 Water Conservation

Group together plants with similar moisture needs

Replace large unused lawn areas with natural plantings beds that are drought tolerant

Use drip irrigation or soaker hoses

Mulch around plants to keep them cool and moist.

Allow plants to soak up and filter water run off from roofs and paving surfaces instead of directing it to a storm sewer.

vs. Use of Excessive Irrigation Systems

Large lawn areas require excessive irrigation and large amount of fertilizers.

Irrigation equipment may cost more than half as much as the land on which it is used.

Sprinklers can waste 30-50% of the water applied, according to the University of Georgia.
